Foam sized to the part carries the load across the whole surface rather than at the corners, and profiled cavities stop the part moving at all. Both are cheaper than a replacement and a lost customer.

Send a drawing, or send the part. For anything with an irregular shape, sending the part is faster and gets a better insert than a dimensioned sketch.
